I am participating in SkyRise Chicago 2017, tackling the planet’s highest indoor tower climb at the Willis Tower to raise funds for the nation's best rehabilitation hospital, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, formerly known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC)!
Among other things, the hospital helps advance prosthetics research, a subject very near and dear to my heart. In January of 2016 my niece was born. She experienced a condition called amniotic banding, which cut the circulation to her leg and caused her to loose one of her feet. She received her first prosthetic foot when she was only ten months old.
It makes me smile to see how my niece has mastered walking with a prosthesis and it makes me smile when I think of the great leaps in prosthetic technology that we will soon realize.
Research at a facility like SRALAB is vital to the future of this kind of technology and healthcare. The funds raised through SkyRise Chicago 2017 will directly support advances in patient care and cutting-edge research at SRALAB.
Help me as I challenge myself physically and mentally to complete the climb and support SRALAB, a not-for profit hospital organization. Your donation will help SRALAB continue to provide patients with world-class care for the brightest possible future.
