My Love for Stephen
I am participating in SkyRise Chicago 2017, tackling the planet’s highest indoor tower climb at the Willis Tower to raise funds for the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, formerly known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC).
For my husband Stephen, Shirley Ryan gave him cutting-edge research after his stroke. The therapists gave him hope - hope to walk again, to use his right hand, to speak fluently. The funds raised through SkyRise Chicago 2017 will support advances in patient care and cutting-edge research at Shirley Ryan - support that will help my husband and so many other patients.
Steve has so much dedication. We did this climb last yearr and he is pushing to go again this year. Ask yourself, could you climb 103 flights of stairs? And, could you climb it when half of your body struggles to move fluently? This climb will be exactly four years after Steve's stroke.
Support Shirley Ryan, a not-for profit hospital organization that has helped Stephen make so much progress. Support my husband, Stephen Brockland, who has worked so hard these past four years. Your donation will help Shirley Ryan continue to provide patients with world-class care for the brightest possible future. Support me, who is so thankful for the employees at Shirley Ryan. Support the dedication of the therapists and researchers at Shirley Ryan who have given Steve the opportunity to progress further than we could have imagined.
