RICH HOROWITZ: 2019 SKYRISE CLIMB
Nearing seventy and preparing for my sixth consecutive ascent of the Tower, I am increasingly conscious of time's passage and feel ever so fortunate to be healthy enough to set such a demanding goal. I could not hope for a more meaningful gift. Countless others, of all ages, face daunting obstacles as they strive to meet daily challenges. Participating in the Skyrise with its 103 flights spanning 2109 steps is one way I wish to lend support. Each step I take as I train for my climb up Willis Tower reminds me of the lonely and arduous path to recovery so many must travel. Their heart and courage fill me with passion and determination as I prepare for this year's event. Any contribution at all will make a world of difference in the lives of many who benefit from the superb services at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. I thank you dearly for the constancy of your friendship over so many decades. I cannot adequately convey my appreciation. As I approach my septuagenarian years, I look back in astonishment at all that has transpired, around in gratitude for your enduring presence, and forward in hope of creating new memories. Nothing could possibly mean more.
With heartfelt appreciation,
