RICH HOROWITZ: 2018 SKYRISE CLIMB
Nearing sixty-nine and preparing for my fifth ascent of the Tower, I am acutely conscious of time's passage and feel truly fortunate to be healthy enough to set such a demanding goal. I could not hope for a more meaningful gift. Countless others, of all ages, face enormous barriers as they strive to meet daily challenges. Participating in the Skyrise with its 103 flights spanning 2109 steps is one way I wish to lend support. Each step I take as I train for my climb up Willis Tower reminds me of the lonely and arduous road to recovery so many must travel. Their heart and courage fill me with passion and determination as I prepare for this year's event. Any contribution at all will make a world of difference in the lives of many who benefit from the superb services at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago). I thank you dearly for the constancy of your friendship over so many decades. As I near the last of my sexagenarian years, I look back in astonishment at all that has transpired and around in gratitude for your enduring presence. Nothing could possibly mean more.
