Kylie Schalz - Lord Commander of the Watchers on the Willis
This November myself along with several friends and family will be participating in SkyRise Chicago. We will be climbing the Willis Tower to raise money for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC). Many of you know me, but you may not know my story and what RIC means to me personally. 5 years ago I woke up from a routine back surgery paralyzed from the chest down. Doctors told me I would never walk again, but after 4 long and grueling months of in-patient rehab at RIC I left the hospital WALKING with the help of crutches. I absolutely could not have done this without the unwavering support and drive of the people that represent RIC. It's been an uphill battle over the last five years, but I am returning this November with friends and family to tackle the tower one more time and help raise money for RIC.
RIC provides world-class rehabilitation care to thousands of patients for traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, stroke and cancer recovery, and more. The funds raised through SkyRise Chicago 2016 will directly support advances in patient care and cutting-edge research at RIC.
SkyRise Chicago is truly a special event. It’s the only tower climb in the world to offer two modes of participation - by foot up the Willis Tower stairs and via stationary hand-cycling the equivalent distance uphill. These options give anyone, no matter their level of ability, the opportunity to participate.
Help the me and the Watchers on the Willis as we challenge ourselves physically and mentally to complete the climb and support RIC, a not-for profit hospital organization. Your donation will help RIC continue to provide patients with world-class care for the brightest possible future.
