Thank you for your interest in volunteering for SkyRise Chicago, benefitting the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
Sunday, November 2 at the Willis Tower.
Who Can Volunteer?
We encourage volunteers of all ages and abilities to get involved! Individual, groups and families are welcome to volunteer. Groups and families can be placed together where applicable (volunteers 11 years old and younger must have a 1:1 ratio with an adult, 12-17yrs old 4:1 youth to adult ratio)
What do Volunteers do?
SkyRise Chicago volunteers help in every aspect of the event: Packet Pick Up, Volunteer Registration, Water/Food Stations, Gear Check, Stair Marshalls, Crowd Control, and Hand Cycling. You can rate your placement preference on the volunteer application but we cannot guarantee we will be able to place you and your entire group at your number one choice.
What times are available?
Volunteers must be able to volunteer for the entire duration of the event. Volunteers will need to report at 5:00 a.m. or 5:30 a.m. This ensures us enough time to get everyone breakfast, instructions and into their position. Climbers start arriving by 6:00 a.m.
The event is over at 1:00 p.m., volunteer will be released from their assignment once it is completed.
Can I climb and volunteer?
Unfortunately, we do not allow climbers to volunteer; or vice versa. Our volunteers must be able to volunteer for the event for the duration of the event which does not allow time to climb.
What should I wear?
Volunteers will be provided with a SkyRise Chicago Volunteer T-shirt to put on for the event. Comfortable pants, shorts (must be mid-thigh or longer) or capris, and closed toed shoes (gym shoes encouraged). It will get very warm in the building as the day goes on so please dress accordingly.
Can I still fundraise for the event?
If you’d like to volunteer but still want to fundraise for SkyRise Chicago, you can do that! Create a team or register as an individual (virtual climber). This allows you to use the fundraising website and tools provided upon registration personalize your page with a photo, text, and upload email contacts.
Will food be provided?
Volunteers will receive coffee, tea, water, and continental breakfast before they are placed in their individual assignments in the morning. Snacks are provided for floor marshals to take with them to the floor as you will not able to return to the food stations during the event.
Volunteers will park in the same garage as participants; discounted parking will be available day of event, details regarding parking location and processes will be communicated prior to the event.
